“This time last year, our doctors treated more than 5,000 patients throughout Queensland,” says House Call Doctor’s Chief Operating Office, Craig Glover. “This year, we expect to receive even more call-outs.”
All consultations with a House Call Doctor are bulk billed if you have a Medicare or DVA card. There are no additional call-out fees during public holidays or over this Easter long weekend.
“Our doctors will respond to urgent situations, including acute colds and flus, gastro and fevers, rashes and infections, asthma and allergies. We even attend minor home accidents like sprains and lacerations.”
House Call Doctor aims to reduce the pressure placed on Queensland’s emergency departments, especially over holiday seasons. This allows families to avoid hospital queues in situations that are not life-threatening.
“After-hours GPs provide vital assistance to Queenslanders when they need help most,” says Dr Ryan Harvey, the Deputy Clinical Director at House Call Doctor.
“Our patients mostly include the more fragile members of the community, including children and the elderly,” explains Dr Harvey. “We are often called to child care centres, aged care facilities, shared living, and community homes.”
House call doctors are on the road throughout Queensland. Service Areas include: Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gladstone, Mackay, Townsville, Gold Coast, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Rockhampton, Cairns, Ipswich, Toowoomba, and Wide Bay.
House Call Doctors are also available from 6.00pm weeknights and 12.00pm Saturdays and all day on Sundays. This is outside of the public holiday period.
