WITH children heading back to school this week and the worst of the flu season still ahead, House Call Doctor CEO Wayne Ormond continues to plead with families to be vaccinated.

House Call Doctor GPs have treated a record number of entire families that have been struck down with the flu, with 50 calls across the state.

As the national death toll for flu-related cases hits 300, with 51 in Queensland and at least six on the Sunshine Coast, Mr Ormond said they were rostering extra doctors to cope with demand.

There have been just over 2000 laboratory confirmed flu notifications involving children under five this year, with such cases increasing more than 20 per cent in the past week on the Coast.

Mr Ormond reiterated the messages from health authorities for families to go to their regular GP and be vaccinated.
