House Call Doctor Hervey Bay is a medical success.
House Call Doctor has seen more than 3000 patients in their own home at no cost across the Wide Bay since launching on the Easter long weekend in April 2015.
In Hervey Bay alone House Call Doctor in one weekend treated 93 patients and an average of 31 on a week night.
The 100% bulk billed service allows patients who hold a Medicare or DVA card to be seen after their normal general practitioner hours without needing to visit already busy Hervey Bay Hospital.
Busy mum Rachel Humperdink of Hervey Bay has found the service invaluable. She said “I’m so happy with this service. As a mum of five it’s good to know we are able to get a house call from a doctor after hours here in Hervey Bay. Thanks for checking out my bub.”
The service is designed to take the load off already busy emergency departments in hospitals by treating patients with non-life threatening conditions in the comfort of their own home.
House Call Doctor Chief Executive Officer Wayne Ormond said “People in Hervey Bay often can not see a GP after hours when they need to, but we are making this possible with the House Call Doctor service.”
