Tissues handed out to NSW Origin fans

Boxes of tissues are being handed out to Blues fans across Mackay as House Call Doctor makes sure NSW supporters can dry their tears tonight.

Doctors and staff from the after-hours, house call medical service have swapped their uniforms for Maroon jerseys as they show support for their state team with Queensland two games ahead in the three game series.

House Call Doctor Chief Operating Officer Craig Glover said House Call Doctor is 100% Queensland owned and operated and will have doctors making house calls to sick and injured patients during and after the big game.

“We are handing out tissues, but we are also making sure we have extra doctors on across Queensland tonight because on Origin night we always see a spike in patient numbers,” he said.

Mr Glover said House Call Doctor treated everything from the flu and fevers to injuries and even provided palliative care.

“We treat people of all ages – newborn to the elderly – and tonight it doesn’t matter if you are Blue or Maroon, we are here to treat both sides of the football divide.”
