This type of service House call doctor provides is vital to the community, particularly to those who are vulnerable and in need of afters hours’ clinical care and their regular GP is not available. The care is provided by our fully trained Doctors in the comfort of the patients house or home. House Call Doctor is a Medical deputising service, accredited by the Federal Department of Health under the AMDS program.
Our service deals with category 4 or 5 type conditions, these are categorised as non-life threating. Issues like, Cold and Flu symptoms, severe pain, general illness, minor lacerations and trauma that may require stiches, animal bites. We also provide post-operative care which include catheterisation, wound care etc. House Call Doctor can also provide when the patients regular GP is not available palliative care and hospitalisation of patients and certification of death.
APPOINTMENT AND CONSULTING HOURS
Our Doctors can provide House Calls during the following Hours:
Monday to Friday: 6pm to 8am
Saturday, from 12pm through to Sunday
Sunday all day and Public holidays, 24 hours
BOOKING AN APPOINTMENT
To arrange a House call doctor to your door, simply Dial 13 55 66 and our highly training call centre team will take your details and provide you a time frame in which a doctor will visit you at your home, or hotel etc. Our doctor and chaperone will arrive usually within 3 hours; the wait time may be longer during peak times.
As a guide we currently see 90% of patients within that window. We aim always to see the most urgent need patients first and small children and the elderly are often given priority during our triage process. Our patients are kept informed regularly during the wait time by both the call centre and the Driver/Chaperone.
Always call the call centre if your condition deteriorates and dial 000 if your condition becomes life threating. We ask that any dogs are restrained and a porch light switched on if available at your home. Our aim is to arrive at hour house or home as quickly as possible so one of our doctors can have you feeling better sooner.
The doctor will arrive with a chaperone or driver so he is able to concentrate on your treatment and administer any medication you may need to get you through the night or until a prescription can be filled. Medication is provided at no cost to the patient. A report of your treatment will be sent to your regular doctor/GP the very next business day.
